MSI Job Vacancy 2021

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate strong collaboration, learning and adaptive management practices with USAID/Ethiopia teams and their IPs across the program cycle.
  • Coordinate, plan, and implement institutional learning activities relevant to the achievement of USAID/Ethiopia’s CDCS goals and objectives, such as special studies, pause and reflection sessions, after action reviews, briefings, communities of practice, learning events and/or seminars.
  • In collaboration with the Chief of Party and other senior staff, assume a leadership role in identifying critical knowledge gaps and needs related to key strategic risks and assumptions identified in the Mission’s CDCS. Support development and/or management of a Learning Agenda to address gaps identified.
  • Serve as a convener and facilitator of key stakeholders for dialogue and learning around emerging development issues.
  • Support business process re-engineering. May include leading change management around MEL issues.
  • Lead team efforts to deepen USAID/Ethiopia’s and IP’s learning capabilities and introduce improved avenues for programmatic learning and adaptation. Working with Capacity Building Specialist will focus on strengthening the ability of partners to draw contextual, programmatic and operational learning from monitoring, evaluation, analytical and other assessment efforts.
  • Contribute to strategic communications and develop resources and learning products to create, capture, organize, translate, share, and apply knowledge to improve USAID Ethiopia’s programming.
  • Coordinate knowledge capturing, sharing and strategic learning to speed innovation and bring new innovations to the Mission’s programmatic work in Ethiopia.
  • Compile and curate knowledge resources for the Mission to support learning.

Qualification:

  • Advanced degree in a field relevant to organizational development, learning, development assistance, political science, sociology, communications, or a closely related field.

Experience

  • At least five years demonstrated experience in learning and adaptive management, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, facilitation, business process improvement and/or knowledge management. Should include experience in applying learning to improve development programming. Professional work experience related to USAID’s CLA initiative a plus.
  • Outstanding facilitation skills demonstrated by successful past facilitation of learning and other events.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (including report writing) in English and Amharic required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with Ethiopian counterparts and government officials.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Quality past performance references
  • USAID experience strongly preferred.
