Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Women, Peace and Security & Humanitarian Action Programme Specialist, the national consultant will undertake the following tasks:

  • Provide support to and oversee the implementation of project activities with partners.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the development, implementation, and monitoring of the project work plan, including budget and results framework.
  • Support and coordinate delivery of the day-to-day project activities to ensure prompt and adequate delivery of results.
  • Identify opportunities for capacity building of local women’s organisations, coordinate and facilitate technical/project support as needed.
  • Support monitoring of budget implementation and programme activity expenditures and perform budget revisions when required and provide inputs to financial reports.
  • Ensure UN Women’s strategic and technical support to government counterparts, non-state actors and UN agencies in the humanitarian context through direct involvement and provision of advanced technical assistance and advisory services.
  • Support the development of knowledge products that serve for the prevention and response to GBV and SEA work of UN Women ECO.
  • Ensure gender responsive humanitarian and crisis planning, frameworks and enhance close collaboration with partners.
  • Work with project consultants to ensure reports and assigned resources are used in accordance with quality and transparent standards
  • Take lead in developing ToRs for research and procurement of services in support of the humanitarian project.
  • Any other duties as directed by UN Women management and programme supervisor.

Qualification:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Law, International Development, Human Rights, or other related fields.

Experience:

  • At least 7-8 years of relevant experience in peacebuilding and gender in humanitarian related work, programme development, project management, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, and donor reporting of field-based projects.
  • Proven experience of delivering training and capacity building sessions on Gender in Humanitarian Action, GBV, PSEA and other relevant areas.
  • Proven Experience in women’s empowerment, gender programming in various emergency settings, international experience is an advantage.
  • Proven experience on cross-cutting issues, including field experience working on gender equality, women’s empowerment, and VAWG as well as women’s rights issues.
  • Experience in developing SOPs, guidelines, tools for GBViE prevention, response, and protection interventions.
  • Good understanding of the humanitarian situation in the country and of international GBV/peacebuilding practices, tools, and guidelines.
  • Experience in coordinating and liaising with government, UN agencies and/or donors
  • Experience in grant management and monitoring.
  • Experience in handling web-based monitoring and reporting platforms is an added advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to frequently travel to rural areas for project implementation and monitoring of activities.
  • Experience in conducting gender assessments is an asset.
  • Experience using programme and asset management software is an asset
  • Experience working in the UN System is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
