UNDP Job Vacancy 2023
Duties and Responsibilities: The principal tasks under the consultancy are the following:
- Check correctness of language, grammar and spelling and conduct a comprehensive review of the document with a view to ensure flow, clarity, and continuity.
- Ensure a consistent style and format throughout the document and elimination of repetition and inconsistencies. Ensure all footnotes, sources, references are complete and consistent.
- Transfer the documents to UN Women publication templates as applicable, carefully ensuring a consistent use of use of fonts, italicized and bolded words, numbering of headings and acronyms and other abbreviations.
- The editor should consult the United Nations Editorial Manual, Gender Inclusive Language Guideline and UN Women Branding Guideline.
- The consultant is expected to be proactive and work closely to incorporate inputs from UN Women ECO staff.
- Based on the consultant’s profile and skills, they may be asked to also proofread and copy-edit English documents.

Qualification & Experience:
- Advanced degree or equivalent in translation, languages or another relevant field. A bachelor’s degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
- At least 5 years of demonstrated work experience as a copy editor in the Amharic language.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Experience and demonstrated skills in copy-editing English documents will be considered a strong asset.
- Technical knowledge on gender, women’s rights, peacebuilding or conflict resolution will be considered an asset.
- Experience in writing, translating, or editing United Nations publications or other policy documents will be considered an asset.
- The consultant may be asked to submit sample works as part of the selection process.
