UNDP Job Vacancy 2021
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the development and popularization of legal and policy frameworks on political, peace and security in Africa; and advocacy for their signature, ratification, domestication, and effective implementation;
- Support the development of a Joint Programme on peace, security and development in Africa;
- Support the capacity building and training on relevant political, peace and security issues involving participants of the AU member states and RECs/RMs;
- Work in collaboration with the two directorates to convening multi-stakeholder dialogue for on key political, peace and security issues as guided by the AU Policy Organs;
- Ensure the complementarity and synergy in the continuous implementation of the various AU norms relating to peacebuilding and governance;
- Support the strengthening of the AU’s working relations and collaboration with the RECs/RMs based on principles of subsidiarity, comparative advantage and complementarity;
- Support the strengthening of the AU’s partnership with its international partners in the political, peace and security fields on the basis of African ownership and leadership;

Qualification:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s Degree) in political science, sociology, international relations, international economics, law, public administration, or other related social sciences.
Experience
- At least 10 years of experience in conflict analysis, strategy development, risk informed/conflict sensitive development and/or conflict prevention & sustaining peace in a governmental, multilateral or civil society organization;
- Proven policy, advisory and advocacy experience and track record of engagement with senior officials, such as in the AU, UN, RECs/RMs, government and external partners;
Language:
- Fluent written and spoken English and French is required.
