UNV Job Vacancy 2021

Description of task: Coordinate with the support and supervision of the Country Digital Lead, the implementation of the Communication and Visibility strategy of “Leaving No One Behind in the Digital Era” in Ethiopia and Malawi according to UNCDF standards and procedures. Develop and monitor budgets for implementation of the Communications and Visibility plan. Support the documentation of the lessons learned during programme and project activities.

Qualification:

  • Advanced higher degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Communication, International Development, Public Administration, Project Management.

Age

  • 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Experience

  • At least three years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in communications, journalism, marketing, or other relevant programmes; experience with copy editing is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization.
  • It is mandatory to have an excellent ability to write policy and strategy briefs in English.
  • Experience authoring Government policies, private sector strategies and UN publications is an advantage.
  • It is desirable to have a background in digital finance, ITC for Development (ICT4D) and financial inclusion.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Share point, etc.) and internet research and social media; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Desirable: valid national driver’s license and proven ability to drive manual gear 4×4 over rough terrain; (if not applicable, delete)
  • Sound security awareness;
  • Have affinity with or interest in poverty alleviation using digital tools to support marginalized populations, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
