Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Produce, with technical support from the Head Office based Women Lead in Emergency Advisor and update Rapid Gender and Power
  • Analysis focused on women’s participation in humanitarian and public decision-making.
  • Facilitate or support existing spaces to help crisis affected women to analyze the barriers and opportunities for women’s effective participation in decision-making, and to develop WLiE action plans to support women’s leadership and decision-making in humanitarian spaces and community/local governance.
  • Provide technical assistance to CARE project staff and partners to support implementation of WLiE Action Plans to support their voice, leadership and decision-making of women affected by crisis, and manage small grant activities as relevant.
  • Work closely with WLiE advisor to organize and facilitate training workshops for skills building, sensitization and capacity building for relevant stakeholders, and implementing partners.
  • Monitor and maintain quality of implementation of the WLiE project and consistency and coordination with the other programming and ensure regular and accurate program activity reporting in accordance with the project requirements.
  • Effective budget management such as regularly check for spent /financial reports, and track activities against the budget utilization, and timely flag if there is anything that indicates under/overspent and avoid NCE appeals.
  • Oversee and support Women Association of Tigray (WAT) WLiE project activity implementation in one of the woreda.
  • Support monthly organizational reflection and learning events on women’s leadership and decision-making for CARE staff and partners, and to identify capacity development needs.
  • Guide and support CARE and Women Led Organizations to conduct capacity assessment to identify their strengths, weaknesses and available opportunities in understanding and use of women’s voice and leadership approaches.
  • Adapt and develop the Women Lead tools and materials for the local context in collaboration with the Addis based WLiE advisor and global Women Lead in Emergency Team,
  • Provide technical assistance to staff, partners and women affected by crisis in the adapted WLiE tools.

Minimum Requirement:

Qualification:

  • BA degree in Gender, psychology, social works, law, Public Health, or related areas of focus
  • Masters in related fields.

Expereince:

  • 5 years of relevant experience with the first degree or 4 years of relevant experience plus post graduate degree in NGO and humanitarian settings.
  • Undertaking gender analysis.
  • Working with women’s empowerment groups at community level.
  • Working with Women’s Rights and Women led Organizations through mutual partnership.

Language:

  • Language proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency in the local languages (Tigrigna).
