LWF Job Vacancy 2022

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop school annual plans in consultation with the BOM, teachers, parents and learners
  • Open schools for learners’ enrolment throughout the school calendar. Ensure children from the refugee camp and host community have equal access to schools with special focus on children with disabilities
  • Monitoring daily attendance for teachers and learners. Track daily attendance through marking daily attendance registers, review and report weekly and monthly
  • Contribute to teacher recruitment, orientation and placement. Ensure new teachers are mentored and supported to teach effectively
  • Working with the Deputy Head teacher and teacher tutor to ensure that teachers attend all lessons, check learners work, administer assessments, track learner’s outcomes, monitored through regular assessment tests and assignments while maintaining value added progress (VAP) at every stage.
  • As the Secretary to the Board of Management of the school, the head teacher shall coordinate BOM activities which include meetings, leading school development plans, implementation and reporting of school grants and subsidized teachers’ lunches and keep records of all BOM proceedings including financial reports
  • Ensure the safety and security of learners in school, through safe fences, effective use of walkways, promoting a culture of peaceful co-existence within the school and the surrounding environs
  • Ensure learners uphold high discipline while in and out of school
  • Support child safeguarding measures in schools, promote psychosocial support programs and build the capacity of the school teams to respond to trauma
  • Lead initiatives that support education for girls – for refugees and host communities
  • Collaborate with MoE officials, UNHCR and all other partners to ensure coordinated support to schools
  • Lead monthly staff meetings for teachers and BOMs
  • Manage school resources, ensure efficiency and effective use , minimizing wastage and losses
  • Ensure teachers plan well, teaching effectively.
  • Conduct lesson observations to monitor actual teaching and report
  • Submit staff attendance records in time for payroll preparation. The records shall include the muster Rolls and timesheets, derived from the daily sign in schedule for all staff
  • Share accurate and relevant EMIS with the data management teams in time
  • Oversee school meals program
  • Support KNEC to administer National Assessments
  • Lead teachers’ professional development plan
  • Safeguard school property, assets and equipment including digital learning devices, solar power systems and other teaching and learning materials.
