SNV Job Vacancy 2021
Job Description: The general objective of the assignment is to provide an understanding of existing rangelands plans, grazing plans and livestock value chains and further identify possible plans and opportunities for intervention and investment within the livestock value chains. The specific objectives of the assignments are to: Identify and evaluate existing rangeland and grazing plans agreements considering gender inclusion. & Analyze the key livestock value chains in considering gender inclusion. & Identify the existing county policy and legal frameworks responsible for safeguarding an enabling environment for harmonized grazing management systems.
Qualification:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields : livestock related studies , rangeland and natural resources management, climate change, agriculture , or related field and not less than 8 years’ experience. A masters degree with will be added advantage.
Experience
- Extensive knowledge on the principles, and practices of sustainable range and landscape management in the context of pastoralist societies, herd mobility, resilience building, and sustainable utilization of natural resource.
- Knowledge and experience of instruments applied in integrated landscape/rangeland management such as the development of land use plans and grazing/herding agreements.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of working with county governments as well as participatory approaches for engaging communities with a focus on ASALs.
- Knowledge/hands on experience in undertaking studies on collaborative approaches for the management of shared natural resources, such as trans-boundary grazing resources and water bodies.
- Experience in gender mainstreaming and youth inclusion in landscape management
- In depth knowledge on county ministry structure and functioning as well as processes involved in the development of grazing and ranching planning.
- Experience working in the Ewaso Nyiro river Basin and the ASAL regions will be an added advantage.
