IFPRI Job Vacancy 2022
Background: IFPRI is looking for a collaborating institution to conduct a follow-up survey in 160 villages with 40 households per village. Successful candidates will implement a survey with 3200 – 6400 households in seven counties in Kenya, starting in the last quarter of 2022 with a potential for activities carrying over into the first quarter of 2023. The collaborator will work closely with the project consortium to finalize data collection instruments, obtain government and other necessary local research approvals (ideally by requesting approval for amendments to the existing research approvals that are already in place for this research program), recruit and train enumerators, supervise and coordinate data collection by these enumerators, set up and implement a data management system to monitor data quality in real-time, collaborate with IFPRI research analysts on data cleaning, and monitor survey budgets and expenditures. Deliverables will include the final dataset and a report on survey implementation.
Required qualifications of the consultant:
- Excellent track record in overseeing surveys for randomized controlled trials in developing countries, especially in Kenya
- Demonstrated capacity in the financial management of and accounting around large-scale household surveys
- Expert knowledge of Survey CTO and related software for administering surveys using computer-assisted personal interviewing methods
- Experience in building trust and good relations with implementing partners and other project stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills of the research team that will be involved in managing the survey
Preferred qualifications:
- Having infrastructure on the ground in Kenya to implement a survey
- Demonstrated experience with surveys around the subject of agricultural economics
- Having existing research approvals in place for this type of survey
