ILRI Job Vacancy 2021

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate field activities aimed at improving households’ food and nutrition security, incomes, and resilience of households, working closely with PREG partners and other development partners and county governments’ line ministries/departments.
  • Establish and manage institutions and food system stakeholder’ relationships that improve the ability of the team to achieve the agreed outputs and outcomes.
  • Supervise County Coordinators and Drivers in the respective counties.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate implementation of project activities in the respective counties, within her/his duty region.
  • Closely work with the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Expert, to support project monitoring, evaluation and learning activities in the target region.
  • Liaise with the County Coordinators to prepare and submit on timely basis the county based bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on project field activities, and/or any other hand-hoc reporting request.
  • Work closely with the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Expert, Communications and Knowledge Manager to capture, document experiences/lessons learnt into success stories for internal and external learning purposes.
  • Undertake administrative duties within the field offices.
  • Conduct regular supervision and monitoring of County/field implementation.
  • Ensure prudent use of project resources in the respective counties.
  • Carry out any other duties allocated by the Livestock Value Chain Manager.

Qualification:

  • A Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Master’s degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, or Business Administration, Statistics, Agriculture/livestock, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a field relevant to Development Assistance.

Experience:

  • At least 7 years of professional experience working in livestock or agricultural development programs in the Horn of Africa, with specific bias for pastoralist livestock production.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in livestock value chain and enterprise development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across cultural and religious context and work within potentially conflict prone areas.
