NRC Job Vacancy 2023

Context: Are you a strategic leader, passionate about the humanitarian sector with significant experience in designing and managing complex programme? If yes, then we have an incredible opportunity where you can leverage on your experience to directly impact the lives of hundreds of people forced to flee.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Line management of technical experts covering NRC’s programming areas (core competencies), M&E, Grants, Safe and Inclusive Programming (where stand-alone position exists) and potential Consortium Managers/Chief Of parties etc;
  • Provide leadership on NRC programming within a specific country office, including fundraising, appropriate allocation and management of resources, programme quality, accountability, and performance management;
  • Provide effective leadership to NRC’s program teams, ensuring that priorities and opportunities identified are in line with NRC’s country, regional and global strategies and policy frameworks;
  • Provide guidance to the program team regarding tools and strategies to ensure that programming is based on input from communities, local partners and local/national stakeholders, a thorough understanding of the context, and technical best practices;
  • Support the M&E Unit to develop, adapt and implement appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems that enhance program quality, increase effectiveness and measure results;
  • Work with colleagues in the country program to identify funding opportunities and develop context appropriate proposals that meet NRC quality standards; meet regularly with donors to discuss current and potential funding opportunities;
  • Be a member of the Country Management Group

Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 4 years in a senior position;
  • Understanding of humanitarian trends and settings, including emergency response, durable solutions to displacement, self-reliance and integrated programming
  • Documented experience managing multiple projects;
  • Documented experience in external stakeholder engagement with Donors, Government and Local Authority;
  • Experience with the NRC’s Core Competencies (Education, WASH, Shelter, Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA), Protection from Violence) is an added advantage;
  • Experience with a range of donors, with specific experience and knowledge of ECHO, EU, UNHCR, UNICEF and other major donors and foundations;
  • Minimum first level degree in a relevant field of study;
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring and other formal and non-formal methods.
  • Analytical and computer literate including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in English both written and verbal (Proficiency in a second language may be required based on the contextual needs e.g. French, Spanish, Arabic etc. please state your languages proficiency in your application)
