Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage, supervise and coordinate technical services and technical project teams
- Prioritize project activities in-country, and provide thought leadership and technical support as needed to accelerate a support activity.
- Regularly liaise with the Power Africa Coordinator’s Office, USAID missions, and other USG agencies, as appropriate.
- Maintain strong relationships with relevant regional organizations, such as the African Development Bank, and with private sector companies and host country governments.
- Facilitate/lead activities on increased connections and productive use of energy
- Facilitate/lead activities aimed at improving operational and commercial effectiveness of distribution utilities
- Facilitate the development of generation and transmission projects and the development of enabling environment policy, legal and regulatory instruments
- Facilitate/support private investment participation in off-grid and on-grid projects
- Assist Power Africa in analyzing potential transactions to select projects most relevant to meet Power Africa’s goals, including advising on which projects should be prioritized
- Lead preparation of weekly summaries of key outcomes or new developments in the power sector
- Lead preparation of required deliverables for USAID, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and other reports.

Qualification:
- A Master’s Degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience implementing energy programs. Africa work experience is preferred.
- Extensive network in East Africa’s power sector including public and private parties and the development community required.
- Prior experience with donor project management policies, procedures and reporting requirements, particularly USAID is highly desired.
