UN Habitat Job Vacancy 2022

Job Responsibilities: Under the Supervision of the Lead of the Urban Mobility team the intern will:

  • Provide technical support to ongoing urban mobility initiatives, focusing on active mobility and urban regeneration with a focus on Kenya;
  • Support the organization of meetings, preparation of workshops, charrettes and site visits as part of the Nairobi River Regeneration Initiative;
  • Assist with GIS mapping and the development of the Nairobi River spatial strategy, policy documents, guidelines, information materials and presentations through review of relevant documents, drafting and commenting on documents, and assisting in producing information materials and presentations;
  • Support the team in the development of situational analyses reports, generate maps in GIS, plans, and conceptual designs for Nairobi River and associated public space;
  • Develop and review urban mobility drawings for ongoing and new projects;
  • Support the development of sustainable urban mobility guidelines for local and national governments, to ensure mobility in cities in Africa, Asian, European and Latin American is inclusive, safe and accessible to all;
  • Develop professional communication materials, including layout and design (maps, illustrations, tables and graphics), for urban mobility publications and documents;
  • Undertake desk research on the latest academic and policy pathways towards and best practices for sustainable urban mobility, and produce written briefs and reports that feed into the team’s ongoing projects;
  • Support staff in project meetings and capacity building sessions with a focus on active mobility, including the preparation of technical notes and presentations for such meetings and follow-up on activities;
  • Any other tasks as assigned in relation to urban mobility.
