The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the United Nations programme for human settlements and sustainable urban development. UN-Habitat maintains its headquarters at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya. It is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. It is a member of the United Nations Development Group. The mandate of UN-Habitat derives from the Habitat Agenda, adopted by the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1996.

UN Habitat Job Vacancy 2023
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Housing Programme Manager, Housing Lead Specialist, within the Land Housing and Shelter Section, and together with the RE-Think Buildings Programme team and the relevant country offices, the consultant will carry out the following responsibilities:
- Produce technical documents according to project work plan.
- Prepare and participate in periodic coordination meetings with the project team.
- Conduct research, prepare analytical reports, background notes, as well as present information gathered from diverse sources in a succinct and coherent way.
- Prepare drafts of Terms of Reference for the different programme activities, including procurement of goods and services, preparing agreements of cooperation with third parties, etc.
- Prepare and participate in workshops, seminars, meetings and other events related to the project´s objectives and provide support in their organisation, including preparation of travel requests and other logistical aspects
- Follow and implement the programmes workplan and specific activities for each project component.
Qualification & Experience:
- Advanced university degree (masters or similar) in engineering, architecture, material science, environment-related science, economics, urban management, or other fields related to housing construction and sustainable urban development is required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience, including project drafting and coordinating projects implementation.
- Experience in writing analytical texts relating to green buildings, construction materials, housing issues, and urban development issues would be an advantage.
