Duties and Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Senior Human Rights Adviser (SHRA), the incumbent will carry out the following duties:

  • Provide technical advice on human rights mainstreaming in the implementation of the project;
  • Support coordination and implementation of human rights-related activities under the project;
  • Coordinate integration of human rights in the overall implementation of the project;
  • Collect and analyse information on the human rights situation and trends, drawing on various sources;
  • Work closely with and support the National Human Rights Institution, civil society organizations and community-based networks to strengthen human rights and civic space in governance and democratic processes;
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the project;  Prepare reports, documents and briefs as required under the project;
  • Undertake any other duties as required.

Qualification:

Experience:

  • A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in human rights or a related field is required.
  • Experience must include sound knowledge of and skill in the development and implementation of human rights related projects and programmes.
  • Good knowledge and experience in human rights and gender mainstreaming in human rights related projects and programmes is required.
  • Experience working with Government, National Human Rights Institution and civil society organisations on human rights-related issues is highly desirable.
  • Experience in human rights engagement with community-based networks is highly desirable. Experience engaging on human rights in an electoral context is highly desirable.
