UNEP Job Vacancy 2021
Responsibilities:
- Create navigational wireframe of user experience and web layout for MPA toolbox and learning platform
- Provide guidance on branded elements, from colour stories to graphic elements, fronts and overall style guides
- Content design and presentation guidance for MPA learning platform
- Conduct user experience interviews with relevant partners and the lead UNEP MPA project manager to ensure effective learning and delivery approach of platform content
- Identify all possible complementary resources for inclusion on platform
- Work in collaboration with UNEP Communications team to guide development of the MPA learning platform based on partner feedback
- Perform systematic review of existing mechanisms and tools that could be used to influence and guide the learning approach for the MPA learning platform
- Develop MPA learning resources, including web elements, infographics, presentations, copy-editing of guidance material, policy briefs, social media, including addressing coupled MPA-SBE-Whole Ocean thematic issues.
- Review UNEP and partners contributions in the SBE Transition Framework working area, and identify and execute opportunities to position UNEP; additionally, through media, events and partnerships Develop UNEP narrative and storytelling content centered around UNEP SBE Transition Framework, goals and delivery approach.
- Support SBE related events, media opportunities and reports launches.
- Support development of coupled SBE-Whole Ocean campaign strategy.

Qualification:
- Combination of first-level university degree with additional 5 years work experience may be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree.
Experience
- At least 2 years of related professional experience in editing and publishing is required;
- Experience of editorial processes is desirable. A working experience in this area within the United Nations or a similar organization would be an asset.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and oral English is required. Working knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable.
- Strong writing skills in English are required. Good knowledge of another UN language is an advantage;
- Ability to synthesize and communicate complex technical information, concepts and solutions to support marine policy and ecosystem-based management, with due attention to varied end-users needs and capacities;
- Familiarity with the topics covered by the MPA Toolbox and Learning Platform (i.e. protected area effectiveness, climate change, sustainable livelihoods, financing) and previous experience with development and communication of learning resources, technical and copy-editing and communication on related topics of ecosystem-based policy and management preferred;
- Ability to translate technical material into accessible online learning, education and communication products, web graphics, infographics, media products, news stories, social media.
- Ability to produce digestible and creative communication messages is required.
