UNEP Job Vacancy 2023
Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake the following specific duties:
- Guide project teams on engagement of experts for project implementation plan preparation.
- Work with national partners to identify the scope of the project through review of the existing climate data, and gaps identified in previous reports.
- Participate in sectoral working group meetings during PIP preparation.
- Guide the countries on mapping and structuring their planned outputs/deliverables and activities to avoid overlap.
- Review and provide comments on initial draft PIPs before submission to UNEP team for a comprehensive review.
- Guidance to national teams to agree on Chapters/components preparation arrangements and draft corresponding ToRs for NC/BTR preparation.
- Participate in planning project inception workshops by reviewing workshop agenda and identification of facilitators.
Qualification & Experience:
- University degree in natural resource management, biological or physical sciences or environmental sciences/studies or a related relevant degree is required. Post-graduate studies will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years professional experience in programme or project administration, technical cooperation, or related area is required.
- Experience drafting and reviewing GEF CEO Endorsement, Enabling Activities or Medium Size Project proposals and documents is required.
- Experience working with national governments on National Communications and Biennial Update Reports is required.
- Knowledge of the GEF processes and UN Climate Convention reporting obligations is desirable.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy, fluency in oral and written English is required.
