UNICEF Job Vacancy 2022

Job Purpose: The main purpose of this assignment is to Support Eastern and Southern Africa countries to enhance emergency information management capacity and support quality assurance processes in all parts of the data value chain (prioritisation, creation and collection, curation, analysis, translation and dissemination, and decision making) for timely and high-quality nutrition response.

Activities and Tasks:

  • Collate, curate, and analyse nutrition and nutrition-relevant information and maintain and update the regional nutrition emergency dashboard to facilitate humanitarian information exchange and promote data and information standards.
  • 2Synthesize emergency nutrition and nutrition-relevant information from country offices for dissemination.
  • Support drafting of high quality and regular regional and sub-regional emergency nutrition situation updates.
  • Support country offices in collation, curation, and analysis of survey data, MUAC screening data, and IPC Acute Malnutrition (IPC AMN) classification analyses.
  • Support reanalysis of survey data and geographic use and coverage of nutrition and nutrition- relevant services (e.g., determine MUAC/WHZ overlap, admissions for severe wasting, health facilities offering nutrition services, etc.) and identify potential missed opportunities.
  • Develop mapping of nutrition and nutrition-relevant information (e.g., geographical coverage and functionality of nutrition and health service sites) in collaboration with country offices.
  • Support improving the NISe ecosystem through identifying nutrition and nutrition-relevant information gaps and needs and how they should be addressed.
  • In close collaboration with countries and supply colleagues, support in designing and maintaining nutrition supply and logistics information systems.
  • Adopt existing training modules and provide training and expertise on key nutrition and nutrition- relevant information management tools.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Advanced University Degree or higher in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, statistics, or information management.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience on nutrition information and nutrition at the international level some of which preferably in a developing country.
  • Experience and proficiency on use of key statistical software used to analyse nutrition data (i.e., MS Excel, ENA, EpiInfo, STATA, SPSS, R).
  • Knowledge and programming experience on nutrition information management/systems.
  • Experience in mapping.
  • Experience in information management and information design.
  • Experience in remote training and capacity development.
  • Experience developing reports, policy briefs, and journal articles for a range of audiences including practitioners in the field and policy makers.
