UNODC Job Vacancy 2021
Duties and Responsibilities: The assignment will be carried out under the direct supervision of the Head of Transnational Organized Crime, Illicit Trafficking Programme based in the Regional Office for Eastern Africa (ROEA) in Kenya Nairobi, Kenya, and in consultation with the UNODC Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section (HTMSS) based at UNODC Headquarters in Vienna, Austria. The consultant will be home-based throughout the proposed period ready to be recruited in the Eastern Africa region based on ad-hoc need. More specifically, the consultant will perform the following tasks: Develop a workplan in coordination with UNODC and relevant national authorities.

Qualification:
- Advance university degree in in law or legal studies, preferably in a common law country, law, political sciences or related discipline is required; A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience
- A minimum of 7 years of proven professional experience in senior legal advisory positions and drafting of government legislation is required
- Proven experience and proficiency in using international and national legal instruments against transnational organized crime including TIP and SOM is required
- Proven experience in legal research and analysis is required
- Experience in development work and legal systems in Eastern Africa is desirable;
- Previous work experience with the UN or other International Organizations will be considered an asset.
