Duties and Responsibilities:
Purpose of the assignment
The services of a public information expert who specializes in audiovisual production are required. The PLEAD National Public Information Consultant will contribute to implementing UNODC’s Communication and Visibility Strategy for PLEAD, and achieving its objectives. These objectives include: raising awareness of the positive impacts of PLEAD interventions that are improving the delivery of justice in Kenya and changing lives; demystifying Kenya’s criminal justice system by improving understanding of the distinct roles and services of UNODC’s core government partners; and generating appropriate visibility for the EU and other PLEAD partners with a view to sustaining a strong partnership. The activities carried out under the assignment shall thus adhere to the EU’s visibility standards.

Qualification:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in journalism, communications, audiovisual production or related field is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in audiovisual production and public information is required.
- Prior work experience with the Kenyan government and/or an international organization is desirable;
- Prior experience in filming and editing sensitive subject matter is desirable;
- Knowledge of Kenya’s criminal justice sector is an asset.
- Demonstrable storytelling flair, including an ability to translate complex issues into digestible information is desirable.
