UNSOM Job Vacancy 2022
Job Responsibilities: Within limits of delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the performance of the following duties:
- Maintain a clear understanding of developments/events relevant for the implementation of the Mission mandate through the monitoring and collection of data/information from multiple sources, including UN Mission civilian, military and police components, the UN Country Team (UNCT), national civilian/military authorities, NGOs, media and other key stakeholders, for the identification of trends, production of forecasts and assessments. Produce accurate and timely IAT analytical products and briefings, in coordination and/or consultation with other Mission components and sources. Assist in the development and coordination of IAT tools, such as Information Requirements, in consultation with all relevant information collection components of the Mission. Maintain a system for classifying and storing confidential information by using IAT information management processes and systems, in consultation with information management/technology expertise. Contribute to effective working relationships within IAT and other UN Mission components, the UNCT and relevant external actors and organizations.

Qualification:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, social sciences, international relations, law, economics or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in intelligence or information analysis, political science, international relations, journalism, security (military or police) or related field is required.
- Experience in a UN field mission (or similar) is desirable.
- Experience in political and security analysis related to the Horn of Africa is required.
- Experience working on terrorism/extremism related issues is desirable.
