Unanimously adopting resolution 2102 (2013), the Council decided that the mandate of UNSOM would include the provision of policy advice to the Federal Government and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) on peacebuilding and state-building in the areas of governance, security sector reform and rule of law (including the disengagement of combatants), development of a federal system (including state formation), constitutional review, democratisation (including preparations for the 2016 political transition) and coordination of international donor support.

UNSOM Job Vacancy 2022
Job Responsibilities:
- Based in Nairobi, the intern will work under the guidance of the Chief Human Rights Officer and conduct desk research and engage with Nairobi based think-tanks and academics on the impact of climate change on the livelihoods of minorities and marginalised communities (as initially identified in the series of Protection in Humanitarian Response mapping profiles developed by HRPG).
- The research should be based on international human rights standards, including the right to food, the right to a healthy environment, the right to water and the right to security.
- The final product should include specific policy recommendations for the Nexus Working Groups on Water Resource Management and Durable Solutions as well as the Humanitarian Country Team (Protection Cluster and WASH Cluster).
