Job Purpose: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetime. WFP works in over 80 countries worldwide ensuring no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need. As WFP implements and augments its private sector engagement strategy across the East Africa region, a dedicated business development specialist is needed to augment the region’s portfolio of work with high-value prospects, opportunities and programmes to attract resources, technical assistance, and innovative solutions to advance the work of organisation. Reporting to the Head of Private Sector Partnerships at the Regional Bureau in Nairobi (RBN), the business development consultant will have the unique opportunity to influence WFP’s work in the region and to ensure that by working in innovative ways with corporate sector partners, WFP delivers real results for the millions of people in the region who face food insecurity. Priorities for enhanced private sector engagement in the region for 2022 is an actionable regional business development strategy to be supported by a robust and thorough land scape of opportunities in priority RBN led Country Offices along the following dimensions: 1) income; 2) impact and 3) innovation. The focus will be to build a pipeline of opportunities and prospects and provide support, strategic planning and implementation across the region.

  • Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, Marketing Communications or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or Training/courses.

  • Experience in international organizations/companies outside of home country.
