CHAI Job Vacancy 2023

Job Purpose: CHAI Nigeria is seeking to hire an Data Analyst for its MNH program to support the monitoring and evaluation for its new grant. This 3-year grant will strengthen community maternal and neonatal mortality data generation by leveraging existing structures and provide insights into the burden of unreported maternal and neonatal deaths. Direct beneficiaries of this project are underserved women and newborn children, especially in rural communities. The generation of comprehensive maternal and neonatal mortality data through this project will empower community leaders, LGA government officials, and state government officials with tailored information and knowledge to reduce maternal and neonatal mortalities at the lower levels. In addition, this investment will support PHC workers in identifying medical and social factors contributing to maternal and perinatal deaths, providing opportunities for specific interventions to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the national and state CHAI teams and respective state government stakeholders to conduct a review and update the CBHMIS including the design, data reporting processes and tools
  • Conduct literature review, statistical model development, parameter estimation, data manipulation, analysis and interpretation of results, manuscript preparation and presentation and dissemination of results
  • Conduct deep and thorough review of subject matter and literature as needed to help identify questions to be answered by analyses to be performed with the mortality data generated from the CBHMIS
  • Support the design and implementation of evaluation frameworks and models to be adapted across the program states and nationally
  • Interpret CBHMIS analyses results using a variety of statistical techniques that may require simple data aggregation via statistical analysis or more complex statistical analysis
  • Clean and analyze CBHMIS data – This will include preparing and running code for data cleaning and analysis
  • Review data for quality (e.g., completeness, accuracy, validity, etc.) and providing feedback to the relevant state, LGAs and health facilities through check in calls, data dashboards, and site visits
  • Support the design of templates and development of dashboards in Power BI interoperable with the DHIS2 platform
  • Ensure database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary

Qualification & Experience:

  • 0-2 years of analytical or research experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Science, Engineering, Technology or within Biotech); Master’s degree in public health with concentration in biostatistics, epidemiology or other advanced master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience with visualization and analysis software (PowerBI, R, STATA, Google Analytics, Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and time management skills
  • Experience designing and analyzing surveys (SurveyMonkey, Google Forms, Microsoft Forms)
  • Demonstrated ability to clean, code and analyze data in R, STATA statistical software or similar statistical analysis software
  • Advanced training in quantitative research methods
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
