GIZ Job Vacancy 2021
Job Purpose: You are applying for the development cooperation trainee program, a program to promote young talent from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Training is provided for organizations involved in German and multilateral development cooperation (DC) . The program is carried out by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the BMZ.
Your tasks in the first practical phase::
- Advice on national peace infrastructures in selected ECOWAS member states: Together with ECOWAS, the project analyzes the capacities of national peace infrastructures in West Africa and advises selected countries on setting up local and national peace infrastructures.
- Advice on building mediation capacities: Building on the results of a comprehensive mediation simulation exercise in the second half of 2022, the results will be analyzed and measures for capacity development in the area of mediation will be designed and implemented.
- In addition, tasks are selectively taken on in other areas of the project, including in the areas of crisis early warning and election observation, so that a comprehensive study of the most important ECOWAS instruments for conflict prevention is ensured.
Qualification:
- Study of politics; Social sciences, anthropology, psychology or law.
- Focus of the degree in peace, security or conflict research
- Necessary technical knowledge in the area of mediation, conflict transformation or preventive diplomacy.
- Knowledge of development cooperation
- First practical experience in a developing country
- Willingness to change location several times
- Open for use in different organizations
- Intercultural Competence
- Fluent language skills in German, English and French
