UNV Job Vacancy 2021
Description of task: Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Project Manager or his/her appointed delegated representative(s), the UNV Communication Specialist will:
- Support the implementation of the project’s communication strategy and annual plan
- Design, produce, write and/or edit communication and advocacy materials, flagship reports, and studies; in doing so the incumbent will also facilitate the management and dissemination of knowledge products
- Support the project’s online visibility on social media channels, and on the UNDP Africa website, blog platforms, and e-newsletters
- Promote the achievements of UNDP and its partners in the regional context of disaster risk management in the Western Sahel and Lake Chad Basin
- Help improve the project’s outreach and promote the agenda of UNDP and its partners towards a risk-informed development trajectory
Qualification:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Media, Journalism, International Relations, or a related field. A Master’s degree is desirable, but it is not a requirement.
- Minimum 3 years (5 years desirable but it is not a requirement) of experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications, or advocacy, including
Experience Mark:
- Experience in developing communication and media materials, and online publications
- Experience in preparing presentations, briefing notes, talking points, and fact sheets
- Experience in media relations
- Knowledge of and experience with photography and video
- Knowledge of and experience as an influencer or with blogging and social media
- Advanced user level in graphic design software packages (Adobe Creative Suite)
- Good knowledge of handling web-based management systems (AEM, Drupal)
- Experience in working at the UN and/or with NGOs in the field of development is an asset
