The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) is a United Nations peacekeeping force in Abyei, which is contested between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan. UNISFA was approved on 27 June 2011 by the United Nations Security Council in United Nations Security Council Resolution 1990 after a flareup in the South Kordofan conflict earlier in June 2011.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of Chief Engineer, the Land Surveyor will
- Conduct site visits in all UNISFA operational locations and execute land/site survey and collect data and produce topographical mapping for new and existing UNISFA camps and routes including but not limited to roads, plots and blocks boundaries, infrastructure utilities, shelters, buildings and facilities, flood prone areas swamp, rivers, wades etc. in accordance with UNISFA needs, design requirements, standards and applicable local and international codes of practice and utilizing relevant equipment and software.
- Prepare geo-referenced data, charts, plots, maps, drawings, profiles, records and documents related to surveys; keeps records of the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, elevation and dimension of land or land features, shelters, buildings & facilities, infrastructure, roads, etc. (More Details Visit Official Notification).
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications/special skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying or at least 1 (one) year training in Surveying after the completion of bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is acceptable.
- A minimum of Eight (8) years of progressively working experience in the land surveying and topographic mapping is required.
- At least 2 years (out of minimum 8) experience in detail surveying for the design of engineering projects is required.
- Experience with the United Nations Common System is desirable.
- Previous experience working with relevant software (AutoCAD, Infraworks, Global Mapper, ArcGIS, Open Street Map, others) is required.
Languages:
- Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of a second official UN language is an added advantage.
