Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private Danish humanitarian nonprofit organization, founded in 1956. It serves as an umbrella organization for 33 member organizations. Formed after the Second World War in response to the European refugee crises caused by the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956, DRC has been active in large scale humanitarian projects around the world. Through convoy operations DRC was responsible for delivering half of the international humanitarian aid in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the wars of independence in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s.

DRC Job Vacancy 2023

Overall purpose of the role: The DRC Project Manager role is specifically designed to lead internal coordination and project management of ECHO’s Enhanced Response Capacity (ERC) and DANIDA cross-border pilot projects. Both projects aim to analyse cross-border movements/displacements and build improved response capacities based on better understanding of emerging protection risks and of root causes of displacements.

Eligibility Criteria

Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in managing the implementation of complex programmes, including project management
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Solid experience in project cycle management, including proposal writing, budget management and donor reporting
  • Proven ability to work independently, with a clear understanding of risk escalation requirements
  • Proven ability to propose creative solutions to challenges, and proven ability deliver results within a flexible and adaptive framework
  • Proven capability in budget and financial management, VFM, and needs-based cost reduction
  • Successful experience working within culturally and politically diverse teams and institutions, in a fluid and dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to engage diplomatically
  • Previous experience in either protection, peacebuilding, community-based approaches, conflict sensitivity and/or conflict analysis preferred

Education:

  • Degree in Peace/Security, International Development or Business Management

Languages:

  • Excellent verbal and written English.
