Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Humanitarian Affairs, Conflict Studies, or related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
- University degree in the above fields with seven years relevant professional experience.
Experience:
- Experience in conflict analysis in humanitarian emergency context such as South Sudan.
- Experience in conflict research/analysis, displacement mapping, conflict mediation, management, and peacebuilding in South Sudan.
Skills:
- Excellent analytical, communication, writing, reporting and presentation skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal, cross-cultural, and diplomatic skills and ability to harmoniously collaborate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated organizational skills; the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced and detail-oriented team environment.
- Proven ability to deliver results and achieve measurable impact in contexts of great political and operational complexity.
- Outstanding communication skills including the ability to communicate complexity in an easy-to-understand way for diverse audience.
- High-level of problem-solving skills including the ability to address problems pro-actively and creatively, foresee and mitigate risks and overcome operational and political challenges as they arise.
- Proven ability to successfully operate in high-stress environments and maintain high professional standards in hardship locations.
Languages:
- IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
- External applicants for all positions in the Professional category are required to be proficient in English and have at least a working knowledge of one additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
- For all applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of either Arabic, French, Spanish, or any local language is an advantage.
- Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
