Eligibility Criteria

Education:

  • Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Humanitarian Affairs, Conflict Studies, or related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in the above fields with seven years relevant professional experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in conflict analysis in humanitarian emergency context such as South Sudan.
  • Experience in conflict research/analysis, displacement mapping, conflict mediation, management, and peacebuilding in South Sudan.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical, communication, writing, reporting and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, cross-cultural, and diplomatic skills and ability to harmoniously collaborate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills; the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced and detail-oriented team environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver results and achieve measurable impact in contexts of great political and operational complexity.
  • Outstanding communication skills including the ability to communicate complexity in an easy-to-understand way for diverse audience.
  • High-level of problem-solving skills including the ability to address problems pro-actively and creatively, foresee and mitigate risks and overcome operational and political challenges as they arise.
  • Proven ability to successfully operate in high-stress environments and maintain high professional standards in hardship locations.

Languages:

  • IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
  • External applicants for all positions in the Professional category are required to be proficient in English and have at least a working knowledge of one additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
  • For all applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of either Arabic, French, Spanish, or any local language is an advantage.
  • Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
