Role and responsibilities: The purpose of the HLP AOR Coordinator position is technical development of the HLP sector in South Sudan, strategic direction and quality assurance, develop/amending HLP AoR strategy as per country priorities and ensure quality control. The HLP AOR Coordinator will be the lead/chair of the HLP Area of Responsibility (AOR) under the Protection Cluster (PC) and is responsible for mentoring, training and capacity building of relevant stakeholders in South Sudan on HLP technical capacity.
Eligibility Criteria
Generic professional competencies for this position:
- Minimum 5 years of experience within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Knowledge of the context in South Sudan
- Experience in Housing Land and Property
- Experience in gender issues and programming
- Experience working with displacement in urban settings
- Experience from protection and advocacy work within HLP sector
- Solid experience form managing and implementing HLP related responses in both volatile and recovery contexts
- Training and coaching on HLP and coordination
- Strong capacity in leading proposal development
- Documented experience working with donors and conversant with their technical frameworks, strategic priorities and reporting requirements (e.g. in Protection Priorities, in Durable Solutions etc.)
- Advanced understanding and experience from HLP monitoring and analysis with ability to devise and adapt tools to context
- Experience from leading multi sector assessments and analysis
- Ability to work closely together with other field staff and across sectors
- High level of communication, representation, flexibility, and negotiation skills
