Role Summary: The Protection Team Leader will be primarily responsible for ensuring the implementation of CARB Protection and other protection activities. The purpose of the position is to coordinate and supervise the day-to-day implementation of CARB Protection activities in Leer and Mayom counties. Under the direct management of the Project Manager-LFS/CARB, the Protection Team Leader will lead the implementation of and regularly monitor all CARB Protection activities in the area(s) of responsibility. S/he will spend at least 50% of his/her time in the field locations providing on job technical support to Protection teams (Officers and Assistants) who will be working under his/her direct supervision. The Protection Team Leader will directly supervise the day-to-day work of Gender and Protection Officers and Assistants, provide onsite technical oversight and ensure field level quality assurance. He/she will ensure proper coordination between all aspects of the protection activities in the field allowing for an effective response and ensuring that principles of DO NO HARM, client centeredness safety, dignity, confidentiality and ethics are upheld throughout the implementation of protection activities. The position will receive technical support and guidance from the Protection Manager and Specialist.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • At least one year of experience coordinating and leading the implementation of Protection including GBV activities in hard-to-reach areas.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in implementation of protection activities and programs in hard to reach area.
  • Minimum one year of management experience at a junior-mid level, preferably with experience in the field of IDP protection working with national or international NGO.
  • Thorough understanding of best practices and strategies in protection programming (sexual and gender based violence, community based protection, protection mainstreaming)
  • Familiarity with international protection and human rights legal standards, with special emphasis on SGBV, would be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills as well as communication and inter-personal skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and respect for people with specific needs
  • Independent work, i.e. with minimal supervision and under pressure;
  • Self-motivation, goal/result-orientation and team work;
  • Flexibility, creativeness, tolerance and maturity;
  • Computer skills i.e. MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Full professional proficiency in English
