Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located within the Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan in the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of the Commission.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in law, political science, international relations or another discipline related to human rights is required. A first-level university degree in the mentioned filed of studies in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible work experience in human rights, international humanitarian law or international criminal law is required.
- Out of the seven years, a minimum of two years of experience in the analysis and drafting of public human rights reports is required.
- Experience in international accountability mechanism, or tribunal dealing with international crimes is desirable.
Languages:
- French and English are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
