OHCHR Job Vacancy 2023

Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in the Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan (CHRSS), in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). The incumbent reports to the Analyst of the Commission, based in Juba.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

  • A first level university degree in law and an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in law are required. For the advanced university degree in law, specialization in international, criminal or humanitarian law is desirable. A first-level university degree in law, in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree in law.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in law, including legal analysis, research and writing on international criminal law, is required
  • A minimum of three years of work experience in an international criminal court or international accountability mechanism, or in a national court or tribunal dealing with international crimes is required.
  • Experience working on Human Rights Investigations is desirable.
  • Experience in the use of case management databases is desirable.

Languages:

  • English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat, for this position fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
