Qualifications and Experience

  • University/College BA or BSc Degree and/or Advanced Degree in related field (e.g Rural Livelihoods, Agriculture/Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Development Studies, or other relevant fields of study) At least four years of work experience in agriculture sector, livelihood, CVA;
  • At least 4 years of relevant experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of multi-sectoral programs – food security, natural resource management, disaster risk management, livelihoods-based development and emergency response operations
  • Experience in working with government counterparts and other partners at various levels – national to county; these includes technical support, capacity-building and coordination.
  • Excellent understanding of livelihoods issues in South Sudan at both field and policy levels.
  • Knowledge and practical experiences in FFA/APFS methodologies, DRR tools, CVA, FSNMS tools, market assessment, the use of IPC livelihoods programming and M&E tools.
  • Practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities in realizing children’s rights in South Sudan, in relation to thematic area.
  • Experience in designing Livelihood strategies and proposals.
  • Strong data collection, analysis and report writing skills.
  • Strong analysis of food security data and ability to summarize and communicate this to a range of audiences.
  • A good understanding of development issues in the projects’ implementation areas in particular
  • Willingness and ability to travel to all project areas, within approved security frameworks
  • Good presentation, training and facilitation skills
  • Proven conceptual skills and an ability to think and plan strategically
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to train and mentor staff
  • Proven ability to manage a complex and demanding workload
  • Cultural and gender sensitivity
  • Work experience in diverse NGOs is an asset.
  • Excellent Report Writing and English proficiency skills.
  • Knowledge of the area, socio-culture and local language where the post is located as an added advantage
  • Practical experience in cash transfer program implementation

Essential

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility, motivation, and maturity
  • Ability to work within a tight timeframe,
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the field.

Desirable

  • Work experience in humanitarian emergencies
  • Work experience in an (International) Non–Governmental Organization ((I)NGO)
  • Experience of preparing successful funding proposals for donors particularly experience working with one of the SCI member country
  • English language skills.
