Overview Of The Functions Of The Post: The National Project Officer will be responsible to ensure the efficient and qualitative implementation of a UNESCO Communication and Information (CI) UN PBF project, entitled “Support to a people-driven and gender responsive permanent constitution making process in South Sudan”, by promoting freedom of expression in the country and raising the visibility of UNESCO’s mandate in that area. The project aims to strengthen Media organizations deliver well informed, accurate and gender sensitive reporting on the constitution making process.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Advanced University degree (Masters or equivalent) in journalism, political sciences, management, or in a related field of social and human sciences.
Work Experience:
- Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in project implementation and/or project management.
- Demonstrated experience in project development and management in an international environment.
- Demonstrated experience in developing strategies for communicating using new technologies and social media channels.
Skills/Competencies:
- Advanced knowledge of the media and social media landscape in South Sudan and freedom of expression and media developments at national and global levels, in relation to online freedom of expression and the curbing of potential harmful content (such as disinformation and hate speech).
- Good time-management, coordination, reporting and budget skills.
- Strong IT skills especially in MS-Excel, MS-Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; capacity to write clear prose.
- Ability to work in a team in a multi-cultural environment.
- Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results.
- Ability to be proactive and work independently.
Languages:
- Excellent knowledge (spoken and written) of English.
