UNICEF Job Vacancy 2022
Purpose for the Job: The Construction Specialist P-3 TA reports to the Construction Engineer P3 as per the Country Office (CO) set-up and is responsible for the coordination of the construction activities. The management of construction projects includes planning, support to procurement, managing construction companies’ contracts, engineering firms’ contracts, support to management of Implementing Partnerships that include construction/ rehabilitation components, as well as monitoring of construction works on site. The incumbent collaborates closely with UNICEF Programme/ Operations in defining construction interventions to meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children and provides technical and advisory support to Government and partners on construction project management.
Eligibility criteria
Education:
- An advanced university degree is required in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or other relevant areas.
Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, at the national and/or international levels, in project management, site supervision, quality assurance and/or other directly-related technical fields is required.
- Experience in working in humanitarian and development contexts in areas with conflict and accessibility challenges is an asset.
- Experience in managing assessment, and site supervision by Engineering firms is highly desirable.
- Experience in using FIDIC contract terms and conditions, UN and/or World Bank procurement process will be an added advantage.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of one or more local language(s) of the duty station is considered as an asset, knowing another official UN language is considered as an asset.
