Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Juba. Juba is classified in the “E” category and as a non-family duty station. The Aviation Safety Assistant reports to Chief Aviation Safety Officer.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in flight operations, air traffic control, aviation engineering and/or aviation safety/compliance management is required.
- Having held at least one position in aviation safety, compliance, or quality management is required.
- Experience performing related duties and responsibilities in aviation in a United Nations common system field presence in a post-conflict environment (inclusive of peacekeeping operations, special political missions, agencies funds and programmes) or other similar international organizations is desirable.
- Experience in directly using ICAO standards and recommended practices is desirable.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
