UNMISS Job Vacancy 2021
Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located within the Rule of Law Advisory Section of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, with duty station Juba. Juba is classified in the “E” category and as a non-family duty station. The Corrections Officer reports to the Senior Corrections Officer, subject to the overall supervision and direction of the Chief, Rule of Law Advisory Section.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in law, criminal justice, social sciences or management is required. A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience:
- At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in corrections, human rights and/or project management is required.
- At least four years in a corrections setting, including experience in policy and planning or training is required.
- At least two years of professional experience providing technical assistance or project management support for strengthening corrections systems in a transitional, developmental or post-conflict setting outside the applicant’s country of nationality is required.
- Experience providing services in the field of corrections system to or in a field operation of the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
