Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in the Engineering Section of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Juba. Juba is classified in the “E” category and as a non-family duty station. The Engineering Technician reports to the Chief Engineer through an Engineer.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification:
- Technical certification/diploma or other supplemental academic qualification in the field of logistics, supply chain management and/or engineering is desirable.
- Certification in MRP (materials Requirements Planning) and/or ERP (Enterprise resource planning), e.g. SAP ECC (ERP Central Component), SRM (supplier relationship management) or similar in support of scheduling, procurement, and/or logistics process is desirable.
- Certification on Business Intelligence for ERP systems or similar is desirable.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in Logistics Operations, Supply chain management, Engineering or construction or a related field is required.
- Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SAP Enterprise Recourse Planning (ERP) software is required
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience with support services and logistics/supply management with a large organization is desirable.
- Experience in a similar capacity working in a complex, volatile, conflict or post-conflict setting is desirable.
- Experience in preparation of scope of works and technical specifications; project document is desirable.
- Experience in acquisition planning, procurement and contract management is desirable.
- Experience in maintaining records or database to monitor expenditure on specific logistics support to supported entities against budgeted funds is desirable.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required;
