Org. Setting and Reporting: Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in Juba. Juba is classified as an “E” hardship duty station and a non-family duty station. The incumbent reports to the Chief of Joint Mission Analysis Center (JMAC).
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in information management, information science and information systems, political science, international relations, foreign affairs, law, or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience and relevant academic/professional qualifications, such as accreditations from military or government command and staff colleges, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in information management and data management, information analysis, international and political affairs, political journalism, diplomacy, development, security operations, conflict resolution, humanitarian affairs, human rights, or a related field is required.
- Extensive experience in conducting independent research drafting high quality analysis documents under tight deadlines is required.
- Experience working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team is required.
- Experience of working with good knowledge of SharePoint or similar file management systems as well as strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word is required.
- At least two years of work experience in conflict or post-conflict field operations is desirable.
- Experience with Geographic Information System tools (ArcGIS), information management databases especially SAGE, data analysis tools (PowerBI), Intelligence Analysis platforms (such as IBM iBase and Analyst Notebook) is desirable.
- Experience in briefing senior officials on complex or multidimensional issues is desirable.

Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required.
