UNMISS Job Vacancy 2021
Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in Juba. Juba is classified in the “E” category and as a non-family duty station. The incumbent reports to the Chief of Joint Operations Centre (JOC).
Eligibility criteria:
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in political science, social sciences, international relations, law, or related field. A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in political or international affairs, public information, military, police, security, civil affairs, humanitarian affairs, operational planning, crisis operations and management, or related field is required.
- A Minimum 2 years of Work experience in a conflict or post conflict environment is required.
- Experience requiring contingency planning and crisis management expertise particularly as applied in an Operations Room context and in an integrated civilian-military-police environment is required.
- Prior experience as part of JOC in a peacekeeping operation is desirable
- Experience in briefing senior officials on complex or multidimensional issues is desirable
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this position, fluency in English (Oral and written) is required.
