UNOCHA Job Vacancy 2022
Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in the Operations and Advocacy Division (OAD) in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is part of the United Nations Secretariat and is responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response efforts. OCHA’s mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- A first-level university degree in political science, social science, international studies, public administration, economics, engineering, earth sciences or a related field.
- Candidates for this position must have passed the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the G to P Examination. No examination is required for candidates in peacekeeping missions.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development, or related area is required.
- Experience working in the context of natural disaster response or complex emergencies is required.
- Work experience in the field (actual setting where a mission or project is being implemented) is desirable.
- Experience in developing, analyzing and reviewing reports for senior management is desirable.
- Experience in the region is desirable.
- Experience in the UN Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable.
** No experience is required for candidates who have passed the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination **
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency of English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
