Description of task
Under the direct supervision of OIC, Uniformed Personnel & Visa/Travel Unit the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Initiate, review, process and follow-up on actions related to the administration of entitlements in respect of the mission’s uniformed personnel, ensuring consistency in the application of UN rules and procedures;
- Prepare special reports, mission standard operating procedures (SOPs), and information circulars and participate and/or lead special human resources projects for uniformed personnel in the mission;
- Responsible for monitoring the implementation of human resources policies for uniformed personnel, practices and procedures in the mission;
- Responsible for providing advice on the application of policies, regulations and rules. Review and provide advice on exceptions to policies, regulation and rules for Uniformed Personnel;
- Determine and recommend benefits and entitlements for uniformed personnel on the basis of contractual status;
- Review policies and procedures and recommends changes as required;
- Process final payments, claims, benefits, and other finance-related matters for uniformed personnel;
- Monitor and follow up on separations with colleagues in RSCE, with Payroll and with the OMA in relation to payments of final benefits;
- Advise uniformed personnel regarding their annual leave, MSA, CTO and other entitlements and address relevant issues;
- Monitor and facilitate check-in and check-out processes;
- Coordinate with the Travel Unit for travel arrangement, Travel Authorizations, unaccompanied shipments and release of Flight Tickets for check out;
- Conduct and oversee the weekly induction training for new arriving military and police personnel;
- Undertake research on a range of HR related issues and assist in the preparation of notes/reports;
- Train junior staff on HR issues and policies;
- Perform other duties as required.
