UNMISS Job Vacancy 2022
Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in the Field Technology Section of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). The incumbent will support the Mission’s personnel for their day-to-day operation by providing various thematic and image maps, geospatial analysis and satellite imagery analysis. The incumbent will supervise a unit of three (3) personnel. The incumbent will be based in Malakal, South Sudan and will report to the Field Administrative Officer in Malakal and the Chief Geographic Information Officer in Juba, South Sudan.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in geoinformatics (geomatics), geospatial information, Earth sciences, remote sensing or other related geoscience field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in geospatial information management, applied spatial analytics, earth observations, mapping, applications development. data visualization or related area is required.
- Proven experience in utilizing geospatial software (database management, spatial analysis, mapping, web services development or programming languages) is required.
- Relevant knowledge, experience and certifications on ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), Prince2 and BRM (Business Relationship Management) are desirable
Languages:
- French and English are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this job opening, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
