Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Master’s degree in International Law, Development Studies, Political or Social Sciences, Human Rights, Peacebuilding/Conflict studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
- University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
- Proven experience in the conceptualization and implementation of durable solutions projects and programs in complex post-conflict and/or transitional settings.
- Proven experience in project management and coordination, with demonstrated experience in managing projects with several stakeholders in politically complex and operationally challenging environments.
- Proven experience in, and knowledge of, the application of the triple nexus approach in the context of durable solutions programming
- Solid experience in drafting and initiating the implementation of durable solutions’ strategies and/or roadmaps and a proven track-record of successfully collaborating with authorities and affected communities in this regard.
- Strong experience in multi-stakeholder liaison, engagement and management including UN, NGO, civil society, Government Institutions, local authorities and affected communities.
Skills:
- Excellent leadership, management, and coordination skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to harmoniously collaborate with variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to deliver results and achieve measurable impact in context of operational complexity.
- Excellent communication skills, including outstanding writing skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills including the ability to address problems pro-actively and creatively, foresee and mitigate risks and overcome operational challenges as they arise. Proven ability to successfully operate in high-stress environments and maintain high professional standards in hardship locations.
Languages:
- IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
- External applicants for all positions in the Professional category are required to be proficient in English and have at least a working knowledge of one additional UN Language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian or Chinese).
- For all applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Arabic and/or a local language is an advantage.
- Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
