IRC Job Vacancy 2021
Scope of Work: Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) Program strives to work with local structures to facilitate community-based and community-driven approaches to contribute to GBV prevention and response, including youth to facilitate a violence free community for women and girls. With funding from UNFPA, IRC will work to address socio-cultural and economic barriers that hinder HIV preventive behaviours and constrain timely access to sexual reproductive health, HIV and GBV prevention treatment and care services among adolescents and youth of 10-24 years.
Eligibility criteria:
- University degree in Social Sciences (i.e. Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology, Gender Studies, Human Rights or any other related field of study).
- At least 2 years of experience working in the social sector particularly with refugees.
- Experience supervising psychosocial programs, providing psychosocial support or case management, and/or working on gender based violence (GBV) and women’s empowerment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills with ability to present ideas effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to communicate sensitively without judgment; good diplomatic and persuasion skills.
- Ability to use good judgment when making decisions and be accountable for decisions made.
- Emotional maturity and stability to resolve conflicts in non-violent ways and maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Ability to gain trust and build relationships.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self-initiative and problem solving abilities.
- Fluency in English is required. Ability to understand and communicate in fluent Ng’Karimojong is preferred and is an added advantage.
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
- Be able to work in a stressful setting and adapt quickly to changing environments.
