Job Summary:
The nutrition assistant will work with other agencies providing nutrition services in ensuring linkages of nutrition clients. She/he will be responsible for conducting nutrition screening from both the health facility and the community educating the clients and patients on healthy eating habits and general nutrition including food preparation demonstration.
- Performing nutrition assessment of patients to identify any nutritional deficiency or problems with their diets.
- Promote health lifestyle by providing information on diet through health education in the health facility and in the community.
- Provide nutrition counselling services to individuals and group sessions.
- Conduct food preparation demonstration sessions those diagnosed with malnutrition and project supported communities.
- Conduct nutrition screening daily at the health facility and outreach site and make referrals appropriately to partners providing nutrition supplements.
- Mentor and supervise the community Health Workers (VHT) to screen children under 5 years from the community and make referrals.
- Plans and conduct weekly community mobilization and sensitization to the communities within the catchment area.
- Build capacity of the project health workers at the health facility to conduct nutrition screening.
- Participate in community level nutrition assessment/surveys as will be required by the UNHCR nutrition lead partner.
- Ensure quality timely reporting to HMIS reporting tool.
- Any other additional responsibility as communicated by the supervisor

Qualification:
The qualified candidate should have a diploma in human nutrition and dietetics from a recognized institution, with at least:
- 1 year experience in a health care related field preferably in a refugee setting.
- Project district and community level with a reputable organization.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism during stressful times
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Dedicated to provide the best patient care possible
- Fluency in the local languages such as Kakwa, Madi, Arabic and Lugbara is preferable
- Ability and willingness to live and stay within Ofua trading centre in Rhino Camp for ease of access to the health facility
