Background and Context: The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is committed to ensuring orderly and humane governance of migration, promoting international cooperation on migration issues, and assisting in the search for practical solutions to migration issues.
Eligibility criteria:
Education
- Completed Degree, preferably an advanced degree in Humanitarian Aid / Emergency Response / Disaster Preparedness and broader Disaster Risk Reduction. Advanced degrees on relevant fields of Disaster preparedness and response including proven expertise in elaborating efficient rapid assessment Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering and Natural Resource Management, Geographic Information System, or related fields will also be considered from an accredited academic institution.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 (ten) years of relevant working experience in Humanitarian Aid (including Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness). Demonstrable work experience reinforcing National Disaster Risk Management systems will be strongly appreciated. Candidates proving relevant experience in development, a governmental, multilateral or civil society organization in a multi-cultural setting, in the areas of disaster management will also be considered.
Languages
- Fluency in English and Knowledge of other UN language is advantageous, Knowledge of Luganda or any other Ugandan local languages is an added advantage
