BMGF Job Vacancy 2022
Position Summary: The Senior Program Officer (SPO) will serve as the PAC strategy lead for HIV and tuberculosis (TB) advocacy. This role will be responsible for leading efforts in partnership with the PAC TB & HIV team and with teams across the foundation to build, implement and evaluate advocacy and communications strategies that accelerate the decline in incidence for TB and HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia-Pacific, and other high burden countries globally. This work supports the foundation’s HIV and TB strategies which focus on research and development to develop new tools and ensuring the equitable and sustainable delivery of tools and interventions that can drive down incidence in both epidemics. In addition, the SPO will work within an integrated team covering Infectious Diseases that includes HIV, TB, Malaria, NTDs, and their related financing entities, and will be expected to have or develop a working knowledge of advocacy related to NTDs and allocate approximately 10% of their time to advocacy beyond HIV/TB issues. They will also be accountable for participating in both individual and group learning and work to increase the diversity, equity and inclusion of the foundation and of our work.
Education and Experience
- Advanced degree in public policy, international relations, public health, development or a related field with 7+ years progressive senior level experience leading advocacy initiatives in global health and development.
- Experience developing and managing complex projects and/or grants in support of policy initiatives, advocacy programs and events at the global, regional, national, and sub-national level.
- Demonstrated success in leadership roles developing and managing policy and advocacy organizations, programs or initiatives requiring a combination of prioritizing demands, and strong analytical, writing and management skills.
- Ability to work with flexibility and a high level of rigor, collaboration, and diplomacy, both individually and as part of a complex team effort.
- Ability to travel up to 50% time domestically and internationally.
- High standards of personal integrity.
