Organizational Context: The Partnerships Unit in the Regional Bureau for Southern Africa (RBJ) is looking to engage a Partnerships Intern specifically dedicated to supporting donor relations/ partnership and national governments in the region; to strengthen the Unit’s ability to manage critical resource mobilization; to carry out resource analysis and resource management functions; and to provide related support to Country Offices (COs) and WFP Headquarters (HQ) in Rome.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme (for example, Bachelor’s degree) from a recognised university and have completed at least two years of the programme. Candidates should have attended classes in the past 12 months; or
  • Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme (for example, Master degree) from a recognised university and have attended classes in the past 12 months; or
  • Be a recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognised university and have attended classes in the last 12 months of enrolment in the university.
  • Field of study: Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Sales & Marketing, Communications or other related field;

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in Research – particularly on background information and mapping, by desktop or by conducting interviews (where appropriate).
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to compile, analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data, prepare reports and draw conclusions and recommendations;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal patiently and tactfully with people of different national and cultural backgrounds;
  • Excellent skills in utilizing computer programmes, including Word, PowerPoint, and spreadsheets. Experience in Publisher is an asset.

Languages:

  • Working knowledge (proficiency/level C) of English. Knowledge of French/Portuguese an added advantage.
